For over 155 years, the name Herbertz has stood for cutlery expertise and reliability. What began in 1868 with Carl Julius Herbertz in the blade city of Solingen grew over five generations into a company that is highly regarded far beyond Germany's borders. Its roots lie deep in traditional craftsmanship: in a family of blade grinders, knifemakers, and merchants whose knowledge and passion formed the foundation of the brand. After the Second World War, Klaus Hartkopf and later his son Ulrich Hartkopf succeeded in carefully yet decisively rebuilding Herbertz and establishing the company step by step in Germany and Europe.

With the acquisition by PS Schneidwaren GmbH in 2019, the 150-year family history of Herbertz came to an end, and a new chapter began, which became visible in 2024 with the opening of a state-of-the-art warehouse in Gladbeck. In 2025, the next stage of development followed with the integration into The Platform Group: Herbertz now operates as Herbertz GmbH, with a clear strategic focus on its core competencies. The traditional Solingen-based company has transformed into a modern supplier of cutlery, outdoor, and lifestyle products, distributing around 20 top international brands such as Opinel, Marttiini, Morakniv, Thermacell, Gomatic, Buck, and Yaxell – primarily exclusively in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and other European countries. Today, Herbertz is one of Europe's leading distribution partners, boasting a network of more than 3,000 retail partners in 20 countries, a network that has grown over decades.
